This is a phrase I think all of us should be able to answer. Why? Because without knowing exactly why we chose to do online marketing, it will always take second seat to other employment. It will always be a “pipe dream.”
You know, something we are forever dabbling in, wishing we could become successful and live our dream life.
I, like most others, chose internet marketing because I wanted to work from home and have both financial and time freedom.
These reasons look great on the surface, but I had to dig deeper. I found that just the financial freedom and time didn’t quite cut it. You need to know why you want to be financially independent and why you want to have time to do whatever whenever you want.
In my case it was family and lifestyle. I wanted to be home and able to be with my family most of the time. I found that to do this, I needed to have the finances that this required.
To that point, I was already making a pretty good income in the healthcare field, but I worked some pretty long days. Also, I found that when I wasn’t working, I didn’t make money. Being self-employed, I didn’t have “vacation” pay.
I actually envied my friends who made less money, but took week long vacations with pay!
Then I was introduced to online marketing. What better way to fill my requirements of financial freedom, free time, and earning while away.
I could not think of a better business. I didn’t want to sell face to face, and I didn’t want to do the MLM. I started studying various free information and signing up for different newsletters I learned a ton, but their was one problem. I was eventually absorbed by what is known as “Information Overload.”
I was spending long hours at the computer, but not getting anywhere. I felt like I knew a lot, but couldn’t put it together. In the meantime I also continued working my regular “job.”
I think this happens to more people than you think. They continue to study internet marketing, but get nowhere.
What finally saved me was, I chose a mentor I trusted and was advised to not read any more marketing emails until approved by him. You see, I was an info junky and this was pretty tough!
I eventually was able to implement the online marketing advice I was taught and I am know able to sift through the information which helps, and the information that slows me down.
He taught me that there is more to internet marketing. There is this business called Digital Marketing.
Once I studied and learned the “why” behind digital marketing, it has set me free and allowed me to raise my goals even higher.
I know I probably rambled on, but this is the reason I chose internet marketing as a profession.
