I get this question asked by my team members a lot. When we are new to network marketing, it can be very overwhelming. Everyone has their own ideas on how to make it work.

This same question was asked, by me, on several different occasions. Actually 4 different companies, until I figured it out. I had some mentors when I first got started, but many of them taught stuff that was just out of the league for most of us.

My first mentor told me to go place classified ads, in the job section of the local newspapers. Here I was someone who did not have a job, had no money, no skills, and I was going to interview people for a network marketing company. I’m sure you can imagine, that didn’t go to well for me.

The next mentor said I needed to start cold calling. So I purchased a few lists and went to work. Cold calling people who had not interest in any type of opportunity I was selling, was very difficult. The rejection took a toll on me.

It took me many years before I found the right way to build a network marketing business. I’m going to give you 5 ways that may help you, start your network marketing opportunity.

1. Learn Attraction Marketing

For many years I would do what they call “push marketing”. This is stuff like, cold calling, talking to anyone within 3 feet, or handing out business cards to strangers. Push marketing never works. It wasn’t until I understood “attraction marketing” that my business took off.

Attraction marketing is when you get people contacting you about your opportunity. When I first learned about this type of marketing, I understood the concept right away. It’s about helping others first with training. Leading with value, before you even talk about your opportunity. This means helping everyone in network marketing. If you focus on training everyone, you become attractive. And then become the “go to” person.

Others will now want to learn what you do, because they can trust you. You have built a relationship with these people, and its easy to talk about your business.

2. Find One Marketing Strategy.

There are so many marketing strategies you can choose from, but I want to encourage you to find one, and master it. Find one you think will be the perfect fit. Examples are social media, content, video, home meetings, PPC, and the list goes on.

I love to create content in the form of articles, and videos. This content I create, gets posted on my blog. That same article can then be made into a video, ready to be uploaded to YouTube. The problem many of us run into, is we try and do to many things at once. Pick one strategy, and become a master at it. Get your black-belt in that marketing strategy.

3. Find Your Target Market

This actually should be number one, because its so important. Your target market is the people, who you can put your marketing in front of. If there is anything you get from this article, get this. In network marketing, your target market is other network marketing people. Why? because 97% of the people have no clue what to do. These are the people that need the most help. Find them, and put your training (not your opportunity) in front of them.

4. Seek out Other Leaders

When you get someone to join your network marketing opportunity, that’s not the time to celebrate. If that same person in still working hard on that business in 3 months. Then you can celebrate.

Try not to be in hurry to just sign-up anyone. Find others who you think will be leaders. Look for those that have some background with running their own business. Real estate agents, insurance agents, mortgage brokers. These are people who know how to work for commissions and can motivate themselves. Work on recruiting these people and you will see great success.

5. Set Daily Goals and Be Consistent.

Everyday set goals on what your going to do. How many people will you talk with. What kind of content are you going to create today. How much value are you going to create for others.

Ask these questions each day. Then be consistent. In the beginning your going to work every day and not see any results. If you are consistent every day your results will be small, but they will multiply and grow into a huge network marketing downline.
