The desire of all internet marketers is to make a sale, either from their website, email or classified ad. Due to this desire, different methods of promoting a product on the internet has been developed from paid placements in search engines like Google AdWords to the relatively free bum marketing, with all of them reportedly effective. However, for this article, I’ll be focusing more on those who prefer to use pay-per-click programs on search engines.

SEARCH ENGINES
Search engines are fittingly the “engines” that power any successful advertising campaign and leveraging on their capabilities could earn an internet marketer between a few hundred to a thousand dollars each month.
Google is undoubtedly the biggest and most used search engine on the web today. Its fast and addictively reliable. Most internet marketers use Google to advertise through the Google awords advertising program. Another great search engine is Overture.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE
For an advertising campaign to be successful, different factors come to play but even a newbie or idiot can make a good impression if he has the right tools. The net abounds with resources, programmes and ebooks all claiming that by using them, you’d achieve your advertising goals. However, its like bird watching in lion country. You have to be careful and I mean real careful.

I wasn’t much of an internet marketing guru, come to think of it, I just wanted to make a few extra quid to supplement my pay but I soon realized that to be a successful internet marketer, I had to have the right tools. My profits skyrocketed after I began using these tools as I got more traffick leading to sales.

Ebooks and Resources: Knowledge, they say, is power. So my friend before you jump into the wonderful work-at-home job of internet marketing, it’ll do well to arm yourself with the latest and most relevant information out their. These would usually come in the form of ebooks which you can get all over the net. Below are my recommended ones.

a.Google Made Easy (free): This is a free ebook that is quite informative and straight to the point.

b Beating Adwords(paid) Beating AdWords is one of the best ebooks written for new and even advanced marketers. It teaches you the basic techniques and other fundamentals in beating AdWords to its own game. Millions of internet marketers couldn’t be wrong.

Remember to sign up for ezines and newsletters as these go a long way in helping you determine old proven techniques and the new techniques too.

Keyword Selector Tools: The most typed in keywords are just a few clicks away with enterprising keyword selector tools. As marketers become more and more sophisticated, they are becoming increasingly aware of the need for good solid Search Engine Optimization techniques – and as you know, that all starts with a good foundation in Keyword Research.

There are a whole lot of keyword selector tools on the web but you don’t want any, you want the best, something you can feel comfortable with, something you can trust.
Recommended:

a. inventory.overture.com(free): Powered by Yahoo!, overture’s inventory is quite easy to use. Just type in your keyword and it will give you a list of exact and related matches of the keyword along with the number of times they were used. The thing is , it really sucks if you’re looking for a niche or want to start a targeted campaign.

b. Keyword Elite (paid): This software will generate high paying AdSense keyword lists . It can analyze your pay per click competition in search engines like google, yahoo , miva . Keyword elite automatically create targeted AdSense web pages so easy, you just need to click one button.

c. Adword Analyzer (paid): One of the best if not the best keyword analyzer for internet marketers new and old alike. Its got so many features that if I was to talk about it here, it’ll take the whole day. I’m not trying to sell this but when something is good, its good to say it. Read the full review here. This is an indispensable tool for any serious internet marketer looking to make serious money.

Multilingual Translation tools: China is home to over a billion human beings, many of which don’t understand a single word of English but who are regularly logged on to Google and yahoo. Wouldn’t it be wonderful that when they view your page, it’ll appear in simplified Chinese?

The internet is global, multinational and multilingual. Information should cross national boundaries, but language is a huge barrier. Hiring native language speakers to translate every word on even a small website is expensive, which is why automated “machine translation” is becoming ever-popular – despite some hilarious, misleading, sometimes even insulting translations. It often produces just enough translation for people to make sense of them.

a. Atlavista’s “Babel Fish”: This is free, and is available from here. It offers a translation of web pages from 6 languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese) into any of these six plus Chinese, Japanese and Korean

b.Multilingual Marketer: With real, hard-coded pages you can get your translated site indexed on many of the non-English search engines. Remember too that Google, Yahoo and other search engines have a lot of non-english speaking users probably looking for what you have to sell.

Multilingual Marketer has a much, much bigger range of translation options than Babel Fish – about 36 “from” “to” options as compared with Babel Fish’s. Although Babel Fish’s “6 into 8” seems impressive, Multilingual Marketer’s selective range is more useful. It can translate English into 12 languages, French into 7 languages and many more minor options (such as Greek into French and English!)
With the opportunities to cash in on the huge non-English markets translated pages, I’ve got no hesitation in recommending “Multilingual sales page.

The tools for a successful campaign are possibly limitless as they constantly evolve. Find those which are best suited to you and work hard on them.
