The good news is, being effective at marketing a product and attracting visitors to your website or blog does not require you to amass a huge market force and conduct guerrilla marketing warfare. The marketing process does, however, require you to develop a clearly defined marketing strategy, conduct a market analysis, and create a market plan, that will allow you to discover the “one” magical marketing word that will drive millions of visitors to your site every month.

Every person’s magical marketing word is unique to his or her product or service, also known as a “niche!” Niche marketing requires you to know what words or phrases people are using to find the products and services they want or need. In the past, people used the Yellow Pages or some other directory, now people use the internet.
Online directories such as Google keep track of the words and phrases people use to conduct a “search.” Google maintain and regularly update a global and local monthly search directory or data base and make it available, “Free of charge.” Other online companies like Facebook and Plenty of Fish maintain a data base that categorizes people by interests, hobbies, and habits. They generally charge a small fee for this information.
Go to and type in the word or phrases you believe people are using to find your product. If you sell antique cars, type in antique cars. If you sell travel information, type in travel or vacations. You can get more specific and type “affordable or beach” vacations. Google will produce 100 related words and phrases. Google will also tell you the competition you will have when using each word or phrase. Use the words or phrases that have the most searches and the least amount of competition.
