Have traditional sales strategies (i.e., offline marketing) become a thing of the past or re-emerging as still a time-tested and sure way of promoting your network marketing business? With so many network marketers turning to internet marketing, it seems like some people don’t remember or even know what offline marketing is any more. Let’s take a look at the meaning and how it can be applied to our modern day.
So, what is offline marketing? It is the opposite of online marketing and includes all other forms of selling a business without the use of the internet. For most businesses, offline marketing promotes products or the company by advertising through television, radio, billboards, magazines, and the like. Traditional marketing for a network marketer, however, includes doing home/hotel meetings, calling friends and family (your “warm market”), prospecting at public places like the mall, and other savvy methods to peak interest of prospects.
Offline marketing can be used in two different ways:
1. Using postcards, drop cards, business cards, etc. to capture someone’s attention, then getting them to contact you by phone and/or directing them to your website to get them to buy something, watch a video, or sign up to receive a free report/newsletter/ebook.
OR
2. Providing various online services (such as creating landing pages, email capture forms, video marketing, SEO services, etc.) to local businesses or individuals by using offline marketing tactics, such as cold calling, Craigslist, even pounding the pavement.
We could discuss the above further to figure out who to sell to, where, when, how, and why, but I just want you to ask yourself two basic questions:
1. Who is your target market?
2. What are you selling to them?
If you can clearly define these two parameters, it will help you focus your marketing efforts, whether online or offline.
While it seems like just about everything is available online these days, the truth of the matter is there’s just as much money to be made offline, using traditional marketing methods that have worked for decades. This is in spite of recent claims by online marketing gurus that traditional network marketing methods are dead and the best way to succeed in business is by branding yourself online.
This is true to an extent, but you may find that the online market nowadays is so saturated by everyone and their grandmother promoting themselves as experts. You may even find it so overwhelming to market online that you might be surprised that there is less competition offline.
Either way it goes, whether you choose to promote online or want to stick with offline marketing strategies, if you do not know how to apply attraction marketing principles to your sales campaigns, you may be laboring in vain. After all, network marketing is about forming and building relationships. If you have never tried offline marketing, consider adding a few of the strategies above. You will find that it is best to use both online and offline marketing to brand and promote yourself if you truly want to be successful with network marketing.
