It is not a good idea when it comes to marketing in chat rooms or any instant messaging systems to use those platforms for spamming. First it will get you booted off, but secondly it will hurt your image as a professional marketer more than you can imagine. There are a few ways to do it right; it is all about communicating with your target market whatever it might be. See it as a way of establishing a relationship with your prospects and future team members.
If you have been in chat rooms before, I assume that you were, you may have noticed that most chat rooms are in categories of interest, and you may have seen other marketers send their messages or market their products. No matter what your product or opportunity you represent, you must find your target market or audience. If you can’t find your market than another option would be to create a category for your audience.
It would NOT be in your interest to create a chat with the sole purpose of selling your opportunity or product. You need to think about attracting people to you, who might be interested in what you have to offer. If you sell, let say your product is the next best Cat Litter, you want to find cat lovers or create a chat for Cat lovers. It will be of no use to talk to dog lovers, which is obvious, since dogs don’t use litter boxes.
Include a chat room on your website or blog. Maybe even go further and use the chat room to host a seminar about anything you want, now a day they are called webinars. Also a chat room is a good platform to invite your current team members or customers to answer any questions or help them to solve any problems they have. Keep the relationship going never disconnect with your members, customers or future members, think about a weekly training session where everyone is invited and make sure you inform everyone about the training.
Finally for advanced marketers, invite an expert to answer questions once a week for 1 hour. Host other people’s chat room and establish yourself as an Expert. But never get the idea of charging anything for it; personally I think it would not be a good idea to be that arrogant to ask for money for hosting. Use that to gain publicity and brand yourself as an Expert.
After all it is all about branding you and to establish yourself as an Expert in your field. It never pays to push a sale or to promote a product. People don’t like to be sold, but they like to chat and communicate with someone who knows more than they do. Be a smart Internet marketer, show some value and never turn into a Sales person.
Your product is great or else you wouldn’t promote it. I have faith in you for that. Now, please have faith in me to teach you how to PROPERLY promote your product and brand yourself as an expert. This will cause your prospects to CHASE you to sponsor them.
