If you need to put together a great promotional package consider the following steps.
Step One
Start by focusing on your market not your product or service.
Make sure that what you have to offer is what your customers want.
Get inside your customer’s head. What are they thinking? What do they want? What are their problems and pains?
Run an Ask Campaign to find out what they want (and find out the words they use to describe what they want).
Create a new product/service or modify an existing one that solves or prevents one of your customer’s expressed problems or pain. Use the words they gave you in the Ask Campaign to create your offer.
Now you are definitely inside their head. You are using their DNA (the words they used to describe their problem) to sell them a product that is designed to solve or prevent a problem they are very eager about.
Don’t guess what they want. Know what they want.
To run an Ask Campaign or survey that will help you get into the mind of your customer, use an online survey program such as askdatabase.com or surveymonkey.com
Step Two
Test, test, test.
Marketing is a science and an art.
Make sure that you are able to track the results of each marketing promotion. If you can measure the results of a marketing promotion, you can make informed decisions on what to do next.
Should you repeat the promotion, should you modify it, or should you scrap it and move on to a different promotion?
Take the guesswork out of marketing. Test, test, test and measure, measure, measure.
A very successful internet marketer named Cory Rudl once said there are two types of people marketing on the internet:
those who are losing money and those who are testing.
So, from day one of any marketing promotion adapt a “test, test, test” attitude.
Duplicate a promotion that works. Modify or discontinue what does not work.
If you run a promotion and you cannot measure the results, you are throwing your money away.
Step Three
Are there advanced marketing strategies? Yes, there are.
But for most businesses the above two steps will outperform your competition and outperform anything an expensive copywriter can create.
If you implement the above two steps and you are ready to take the next step then by all means hire a marketing guru to take you to the next level.
But first implement the above two steps.
