Are you ready for A NEW BRAND YOU? Let’s discuss a few things about how are you can take advantage of a “New Year with a Brand New You!”

One thing you can do is to start building a brand new you with a your “Signature” style:

1. Closing:

How many e-mails do you send out each day? Make your signature memorable! Of course your name is important, and how you want to be addressed. Your title, company, and other contact information are also very important, and often times required as policy. But, what you say in closing can be more meaningful about you to others and what you are trying to get across.

For example, I used to just use “Thanks.” I still like that, but it is common. I often now use “To Your Success” – especially for potential clients, because I want them to be successful and more confident in their careers and lives. It’s upbeat and positive – which is what I want to portray. However, that seems to be used a lot lately, as well. Therefore, it doesn’t really make me stand out. Maybe this year I’ll turn it up a notch to be more about standing out and thinking big…

It’s easy to change your closing. Just make it something memorable that matches your authentic self.

2. Color:

Color is the most memorable of the senses. Think about what colors match your personality while still maintaining your professionalism.

Also think about the psychology of color, and match what you want the readers to “feel” when they see it. The color blue is known as trustworthy and dependable. Green is soothing and renewing. Yellow is stimulating and happy. Red is exciting and confident. Purple is uplifting and creative. Brown is stable and orderly. Black can either be authoritative or inconspicuous – but is not unique in signatures, so try another!

Some good professional and on-trend, on-line colors are a deep purple, an olive green, and burgundy. Of course blue is always a good choice, just make sure it is your authentic and powerful blue. Match it to the veins on the underside of your arm.

3. Add a Quote.

Chose a quote that matches your philosophy and the position you want to be in.

I love quotes, and a quote really does tell a lot about a person. For example, if you are a project manager, this quote would be appropriate:

“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” – Origin Unknown or “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” – Origin Unknown

Even better – make up your own quote! You know you’ve said something that is very personally and professionally unique. Next time you do, make sure you write it down!

A new brand you and your “Signature” style is waiting…
